Thank you Nina, for your comment.

I, too, discovered Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor from her famous ted lecture.  I’ve purchased her book but haven’t gotten into it yet…been reading a hefty tome called Brain Asymmetry by Richard Davidson and Kenneth Hugdahl.  Got about half way through it (~700 pages) on my trip to Norway, Denmark and Holland this past few weeks.  It’s a tough read but well worth it.

Regarding Dr. Taylor, I’m scheduled to attend a seminar in a few months at which she’s the keynote speaker.  Really look forward to meeting and listening to her.

I enjoyed reading your post, especially since I have a new patient with Asberger’s.

I don’t know of any of your centers in our area (Seattle) but will do what I can with Activator Methods, exercises: gym ball, etc. and perhaps some of the energy work of Donna Eden which I have been a student of for the past several years.

I am also a tai chi guy so it may work out to share that with this patient and his mother who is also a patient. That can only help.

Thanks for posting,

Thanks for your comment. I’m still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles of blogging.

Right now we don’t have any Brain Balance centers in Seattle. I’m sure there will be at some point in the future.

Fortunately, Asperger’s is something that can improve greatly. I’d be pleased to hear about your experience using Activator. Keep in mind that you should exercise primarily the left side of the body when doing your gym ball. I’ll be writing about that more in the future. Exercising, BTW, is a wonderful way of stimulating the right hemisphere of the brain (the one that Asperger’s are deficient in). Stimulates Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) which in turn stimulates neurogenesis.

Best regards,
Gary

Thanks. Unfortunately I haven’t had a lot of time lately to keep it up. You’ve now encouraged me to take reassess that position.
Best,
Gary
